Position: CLINIC FRONT DESK

CLINIC FRONT DESK – Ortho Alliance

Location:

JIS Orthopedics, 7277 Smiths Mill Rd, Suite 200, New Albany, OH 43054

Employment:
Full-time.

Schedule:

Monday through Friday, times: 7:30 am‑4:00 pm, 8:00 am‑4:30 pm, or 8:30 am‑5:00 pm with 30 minute lunch break.

Position Summary: Responsible for all check‑in and check‑out functions of the medical front desk on a rotating basis, answering phones, scheduling appointments, handling physician messages, scheduling testing, pre‑certification, and medical records management.

Responsibilities
  • Attend department, clinic or company meetings as required.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment by taking appropriate actions regarding questionable findings or concerns.
  • Consistently work in a positive and cooperative manner with fellow staff members.
  • Demonstrate flexibility: respond to changing situations and reprioritize work as necessary.
  • Attend required annual in‑service programs.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of all company policies and procedures; adhere to safety requirements and procedures.
  • Meet and greet patients promptly, professionally, and courteously.
  • Obtain patient information during office hours.
  • Provide patients with required paperwork – H&P, Financial Policy, Patient Information Sheet, FROI for Workers’ Compensation patients.
  • Obtain copies of patients’ insurance cards and MCO identification cards.
  • Verify patient insurance coverage is current and correct at each visit.
  • Review patient label and chart contents for completeness and accuracy.
  • Accurately scan insurance cards, including front and back.
  • Input patient information and register patients as needed.
  • Schedule appointments (new, follow‑up, reschedule) per physician protocol.
  • Obtain referrals – check carriers online.
  • Schedule appointments to other specialists as needed.
  • Collect co‑pays, co‑insurance, and self‑pay amounts at time of service.
  • Answer phones within three rings (“JIS Orthopedics this is _____, how may I help you?”).
  • Handle all calls in a professional manner and direct to the proper individual.
  • Run schedules, request charts, check in patients, and print encounter forms.
  • Communicate with physicians and clinical support staff.
  • Enter all patient information into the system by the end of the day with ≥90% accuracy.
  • Reconcile all charts to keep appointments and return at the end of day to charge entry staff.
  • Scanning documents.
  • Travel to other JIS locations as necessary.
  • Confirm and/or reschedule appointments when needed.
  • File documents within 24 hours.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Friendly, courteous, and possessing good communication skills when greeting patients.
Physical Requirements

Ability to frequently hear and communicate orally, see up close and far, read and comprehend, stand, sit, walk, reach, handle, and/or feel objects; climb, pull, push, and kneel; lift up to 25 lbs unassisted; average lift less than 10 lbs.
