Harbor Oaks Hospital is looking for a Milieu Safety Coordinator to join our team. This critical position is responsible for coordinating and supervising patient milieu staff, ensuring seamless management of all aspects of direct patient care within the specific environment or setting during the work shift. The Milieu Safety Coordinator will identify escalating or tense situations with patients for early intervention to de‑escalate disturbances and is a primary member of our crisis response team with “Hands‑On”.

Rate of Pay: $18.50 - $21.75 per hour

Essential Functions
  • Monitor shift change activities to assign staff, review staffing for the units and adjust as necessary.
  • Facilitate and monitor patient care and programming.
  • Review medical records for timely documentation as required.
  • Facilitate the individual admission and discharge processes, as well as patient transfers.
  • Review and monitor required paperwork for completion and timeliness requirements.
  • Facilitate person‑centered planning process with individuals to assess and develop plans based on their needs.
  • Train and mentor direct care staff during the shift as necessary, or as assigned by the Milieu Manager.
  • Audit individual records to ensure regulatory requirements are met. Report issues to supervisor as necessary regarding compliance.
  • Respond to individuals, families and guardians regarding concerns.
  • Report pertinent information to the Milieu Manager in a timely manner.
  • Perform direct care duties as required.
  • Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards customers always. When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints. Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.
Education/Experience/Skill Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent with four or more years’ experience in a behavioral health environment required; OR
  • Associate’s Degree in a human service field with two or more years’ experience in a behavioral health environment required.
  • Two or more years’ experience with the population of the facility preferred.
Licenses/Designations/Certifications
  • CPR and de‑escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
  • First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.
