SummaryThe tool assembler is responsible for the day‑to‑day operation of the Assembly department by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities- Read, understand, and follow advanced job order specifications, blueprints, work instructions, and procedures.
- Lifts, loads, sorts, and moves materials, supplies, and finished products between storage and work areas, using push‑cart, hoist, or dolly.
- Assemble components accurately, thoroughly and quickly to approved specifications.
- Operate equipment in a safe manner and use safe work habits.
- Assemble components by examining connections for correct fit; fasten parts and sub‑assemblies with hand tools, power tools, or bench machines.
- Inspect, test, and verify accuracy of assembled article for conformance to standards, using measuring or testing equipment, or by visual examination. Inform supervisors of any parts or equipment defects to ensure prompt response to the problem.
- Adjust, repair, or replace defective product parts, using hand tools, power tools, or bench machines.
- Cleans dust, dirt, and other foreign matter from material or machine surfaces using cleaning solution, rag, air hose.
- Measures and marks reference lines and points on parts according to specifications, using template, rule, or marking device.
- Cuts materials, such as fabric, metal, paper, or wood into specified dimensions or shapes, using cutting machine, scissors, or knife.
- Rotates through multiple stations on a shift to ensure maximum alertness and preparation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Six months to one year of related experience and/or training.
- This position may require a government security clearance.
- Reads and understands blueprints, schematics, and/or measuring devices.
- Follows processes and standard procedures.
- Hands‑on, get‑it‑done attitude.
- Uses hand tools and power tools.
- Works in a high‑energy, high‑volume, rapidly changing environment.
- Displays initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner.
- Achieves thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task through concern for all involved areas.
- Clear and effective communication skills in written and spoken forms.
- Understands how to use a computer, including tasks such as turning the computer on and off, locating and opening files, navigating to websites, performing searches, and downloading files.

- Knowledge of jig and fixture building, tool and die making, machine shop theory & practice.
