• As part of our continued and exciting Fine and Performing Arts Expansion, New Bedford Public Schools is excited to announce an opening for a dynamic and passionate Theater Teacher! Theater plays a vital role in inspiring creativity, cultural expression, and a sense of belonging among our students.

We are looking for a Theater Teacher who is enthusiastic about teaching, committed to equity and inclusion, and eager to contribute to the vibrant and diverse New Bedford community. • Plan and implement instruction to ensure that all students meet and exceed Common Core Standards and State Frameworks
• Use of data to inform instruction, to track student progress and to track progress of self through self-evaluation and goal setting
• Deliver engaging, targeted instruction that meets MA DESE and Common Core Standards for level and subject taught
• Differentiate services and instruction to meet variety of student learning needs and strengths
• Maintain active communication with students’ families in support of their learning and to communicate with families consistently and regularly throughout the school year about their children’s academic and social progress
• Assess student performance using formal, summative, and portfolio assessments to drive instruction
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal

• Hold Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education license as an Academic:
  Teacher, Theatre:
  All Levels
• Possess knowledge of secondary theatre education methods and the ability to navigate technology software and applications.
• Have experience designing and implementing engaging lessons, units and assessments that correlate to the MA Frameworks for Theatre
• Have positive classroom management techniques, be responsive to student diversity, enjoy working in an urban setting
• Have excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills with colleagues, administrators and parents
