Who we are looking for:We are currently searching for a 2nd Shift Quality Inspector (4pm‑midnight Monday‑Friday) for its facility located at 260 Duchaine Blvd, New Bedford, MA, 02745. Reporting to the Director of Quality Control, the Quality Inspector will be responsible for performing random sampling inspections, inspecting in‑process and finished products, and maintaining all inspection paperwork.
What you’ll do:- Perform random sampling inspections of all incoming, in‑process, and finished products to ensure 100% of quality requirements are met.
- Verify product compliance after each changeover to ensure compliance with product requirements.
- Record and maintain all inspection information in the designated check sheet.
- Initiate a Non‑Conformance Report when defective product conditions are observed, update the required log for traceability, and follow up with department personnel to contain and resolve the issue.
- Monitor the status of product on hold and work with cross‑functional teams to ensure timely disposition of material.
- Perform Layered Process Audits (LPA) to ensure all required process and product characteristics are complied with.
- Collaborate with co‑workers and supervisors to achieve site goals.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and report potentially unsafe conditions immediately.
- At least 2 years of proven experience as a quality inspector.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A keen eye for detail and a passion for results‑based analysis.
- Familiarity with quality testing methods (e.g., vernier caliper, micrometer, hardness test, tension test, etc.).
- Experience working in an ISO 9001 Quality Management System based organization.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Complete the Atkore immersion program.
- Understand how your role delivers Atkore’s strategy.
- Gain an understanding of your team.
- Learn the training materials and procedures your team owns.
- Identify ways to strengthen the team’s commitment to Atkore.
- Plan, organize, and support QA programs.
- Achieve operational excellence, superior product and customer satisfaction.
- Perform UL and CSA required testing.
- Interact with plant personnel on quality testing and inspections.
- Document NCRs and ICARs for nonconforming materials and processes.
