The Buyer/Planner role is responsible for purchasing parts and obtaining quotes from internal and external suppliers. The role works to identify and best utilize a network of preferred and approved suppliers in collaboration with the Global Sourcing Department. The Buyer Planner evaluates supplier effectiveness in terms of pricing, on‑time delivery, performance, and quality.

• Negotiate with suppliers to obtain quotations, prices, and delivery times from both internal and external suppliers.
• Evaluate vendor quotes and services to determine compatibility with company objectives.
• Coordinate purchasing activities with other departments to maintain inventory at planned levels and evaluate inventory levels to adjust order requirements accordingly.
• Review opportunities for new supply sources and suitability of materials offered.
• Create purchase orders and maintain purchasing data in SAP.
• Work with suppliers to resolve non‑conforming product issues and expedite orders.
• Approve invoices for payment and reconcile receipt and invoice discrepancies.
• Work with Global Sourcing to identify and best utilize a network of preferred and approved suppliers.
• Identify and implement cost‑saving initiatives.
• Evaluate effectiveness of suppliers in terms of pricing, on‑time delivery performance, and quality.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
• Knowledge of SAP system and associated purchasing and inventory modules.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and ability to read blueprints (preferred).

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Three or more years of buying experience in a manufacturing environment.

• Up to 10% travel required.
