Job Description This role involves performing mechanical calculations to validate design accuracy without engaging in design work. The primary focus is on independently conducting hand calculations using ANSYS and MATHCAD to analyze forces and stresses from drawings.Responsibilities
- Validate that designs meet customer and industry standard requirements through precise calculations.
- Review and verify calculations, inputs, equations, and assumptions made by team members.
- Document calculations clearly and share them with customers, ensuring they are formatted for readability and comprehensibility.
- Respond to customer feedback regarding calculations.
- Collaborate with the mechanical design team to confirm assumptions and recommend design improvements.
Essential Skills
- Proficient in mechanical calculations using ANSYS and MATHCAD.
- Ability to perform hand calculations independently.
- Three years of experience in mechanical engineering.
- Three years of experience with ANSYS.
- Experience reading mechanical drawings and specification sheets.
- Understanding of industry standards and ability to draw free body diagrams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Capability to analyze forces and perform mechanical shaft calculations.
- Equations knowledge to support the selection of components such as motors, gearboxes, ropes, pulleys, and bearings.
Work Environment The role is situated within the structural department of the Nuclear division, focusing on calculations rather than design work. It involves working with the mechanical design team and responding to customer feedback, with plenty of example calculations available to facilitate the learning process. The position offers the opportunity to work on exciting projects, including government designs and notable ventures such as those at Pearl Harbor and the Lock and Dam.
Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Berlin, WI.Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $36.06 – $60.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be
