Position Summary: BOP Assembly Technician is responsible for supporting the assembly, operation, and troubleshooting of advanced steam fed electrolysis systems used for hydrogen production, working closely with engineers to build and validate electrolyzer steam delivery systems, and testing infrastructure.

Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Advanced Ionics office hours are 6:30am - 6:30pm. Your work schedule will generally be within normal business hours. Occasionally, there will be requests to work outside of normal business hours for special events. In those instances, a notice will be sent as early in advance as possible. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.

Essential Functions of the Position:
  • Plan, engineer, design, produce and assemble mechanical and chemical systems
  • Read and generate blueprints, sketches or computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) files
  • Plan, set up and validate tests of complete test stations and electrolyzer units and their component, and record and analyze results
  • Write and use software for data acquisition and analysis, including Python, Sci Lab/MATLAB
  • Install piping and tubing for steam and gases and wire basic electrical components
  • Compare test results with design specifications and with test objectives and recommend changes, if needed, in products or test methods

Position Requirements
Professional Qualifications:
  • 2 years of industry experience with a Bachelor’s degree, 5 years of industry experience with an Associate’s degree or 10 years of experience or applicable military experience
  • Experience troubleshooting and fixing mechanical systems, including pumps, heat-exchangers, furnaces, regulators and pneumatics, among others
  • Analytical skills to understand blueprints, models and specifications for parts and design
  • Experience with computer applications, including basic control system, CAD/CAM and CNC machining
  • Ability to fabricate and assemble complex parts, jigs and test system components
  • Proven ability to suggest alternative, cost-effective solutions
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
  • Results-oriented and can work independently
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • General understanding of lab safety
  • Excellent communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Deep understanding of materials properties, including polymers, metals, ceramics, solvents and pigments
  • Experience in scientific equipment/component manufacturing
  • Expertise welding and brazing small intricate parts
Required Language Skills:
  • English - Very good
