What You’ll Do

Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, the Inspector is responsible for inspecting raw materials, in‑process components, and finished products to ensure they meet specified standards and meet customer requirements. This role uses a variety of inspection tools and techniques to identify defects and document results, supporting continuous quality improvement in the manufacturing process.

Technical Job
  • Review job routing, quality log requirements, and interpret sketches to determine dimensions and tolerance specifications for features requiring inspection
  • Perform independent inspections, validations, and/or verifications of assigned items to ensure compliance and documentation of nonconforming material
  • Inspect product for surface defects, such as scratches, dents, cracks, workmanship, and weld quality
  • Perform inspections of simple GD&T hardware using a variety of common inspection tools which may include various micrometers, bore gages, depth gauges, dial indicators, drop indicators, height gauges, etc.
  • Use basic GD&T concepts such as Straightness, Flatness, Circularity, Cylindricity, Perpendicularity, and Parallelism as needed
  • Use a variety of common inspection tools (OD&s, calipers, pi tapes, thread gages, point mics, profilometers) to verify sketch/print dimensions of components
  • Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and specifications to determine machine setup, type of material or part, quantity, and finish dimensions
  • Perform standard operations for established programs on the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), FARO Arm, and scanning equipment
  • Receive inspection of product, hardware, or raw material to ensure PO requirements are met
  • Load and unload parts into inspection gauges to verify and document conformance
  • May be asked to perform higher level inspections while under supervision
  • May trim, sand, and drill parts, using shop equipment
  • Perform daily/weekly operator maintenance on equipment/tools (oil, clean, and inspection)
  • Accurately execute PCS (Process Control Sheets) and provide feedback when revisions are needed
  • Assist Engineering with the implementation, creation, and maintenance of PCS
  • Document actions by completing production and quality logs as needed
  • Accomplish organization goals by actively exploring opportunities to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC)
  • Train others by openly sharing information, knowledge, and expertise with the team
  • Complete job assignments as directed by Quality or Manufacturing Manager
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and participate in audits as directed
Safety
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
  • Comply with all company rules including company safety policy and all federal, state, local, and other safety regulations and practices
  • Use personal protective equipment and devices provided for machinery, equipment, tools and processes, when defined in PCS, Company Safety Policy, Job Safety Analysis or Management direction
  • Report all unsafe conditions, accidents and injuries immediately to management
