The Shipping Specialist keeps the plant’s material flow moving smoothly and accurately. You will follow established schedules and procedures, maintain precise documentation, manage inventory of shipping supplies, and serve as the primary liaison with internal teams, customers, and carriers.

• Verify that packaging is suitable, then pack, seal, label, and affix postage as needed.
• Examine shipment contents and compare them with manifests, invoices, or orders to confirm accuracy.
• Load and unload trucks (including Fed Ex/UPS small parcels) and route materials internally using hand trucks, conveyors, or sorting bins.
• Weigh each order, record weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies, and tag all incoming and outgoing items in real time.
• Maintain hold and transfer areas, coordinating transfers promptly and ensuring the plant stays organized, clean, and safe.

• Prepare work orders, bills of landing, shipping orders, and packing slips; correctly complete all required paperwork for each shipment.
• Record shipment data for reporting, accounting, and record‑keeping purposes.
• Compute space, shipping, storage, and demurrage charges using the computer or price lists.

• Request and store shipping materials and supplies to keep inventory stocked.
• Acquire and maintain forklift certification; operate forklifts safely when needed.

• Determine appropriate shipping methods, routes, and rates for each load.

• Contact carrier representatives to arrange pickups, issue shipping instructions, and resolve delivery issues.
• Confer or correspond with internal representatives and customers to rectify problems such as damages, shortages, or non‑conformance to specifications.
