PRIMARY FUNCTION

The purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive support assisting Project Managers and Superintendents in building current and new business.

TYPICAL DUTIES
  • Assisting with Safety and Quality Control programs and help coordinating actions to address problems.
  • Help interpreting design/drawings for crafts installing material.
  • Research and recommend resolutions to drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interferences, and errors.
  • Verify all completed work complies with applicable construction contracts, drawings, and specifications.
  • Prepare drawings, sketches, and narratives to support construction work, submittals, RFI’s, change orders, estimates, etc.
  • Prepare and disseminate all required documentation records such as status reports, punch lists describing work items to be done, sketches of work already completed, material requirement calculations.
  • Provide support and assist with direction of project materials including orders, delivery, and logistics.
  • Assist with layout of control lines and elevations for accurate measurement and correct installation.
  • Track quantities installed from work performed and remaining quantities for future work.
  • Prepare and submit subcontract and vendor pay applications, submittals, and RFI’s for review and approval. Coordinate responses where necessary.
  • Assist in writing purchase orders, subcontracts and change orders.
  • Perform tasks related to the collection and evaluation of data required to monitor project schedules. Learn to apply the principles and techniques of resource monitoring to specific tasks.
  • Assist managing the project budget by controlling expenditures, coordinating owner and subcontractor billings, identifying work not covered by subcontractors, and ensuring successful office support related to overall cost and schedule.
  • Understand company procedures, the correspondence process, information handling, etc. with management to assure a uniformity in culture and execution.
  • Coordinate changes, clarifications, directives, RFIs, etc. and update them on as-built plans and coordinate with company supervision, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Learn how to maintain Submittal, RFI, change, and other logs.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
  • Monitor/review weekly and monthly status reports, meeting minutes, change orders, etc. to understand process.
  • Attend meetings with owner representatives to understand information required by owner, necessary progress reports and summaries, and how action plans from owner meetings address outstanding issues related to the project.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
  • The position involves both indoor and outdoor work including some physical activity associated with traversing active construction sites, and assisting work crews as needed in day-to-day activities.
  • The position is located on‑site, and remote work is not available.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, & EXPERIENCE

4‑year engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and related experience. Working knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings & specifications, building materials and required standards applicable to discipline. Ability to perform trigonometric calculation either manually or with calculator. Basic computer knowledge, excel, word, schedule software (P6 or MS Project).

Ability to draw and sketch. Use of CAD is ideal along with understanding of survey and layout.

Ability to assume responsibility, as well as interface and communicate effectively with others.
