Occupational SummaryCraven Community College is seeking to expand our pool of part-time faculty to teach Forklift classes in the Workforce Development Department. Openings for these positions may not exist at the present time; however upon review of your qualifications, you may be contacted directly by the department on an as needed basis. Day and/or evening classes available.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Instruct, advise, guide and assist students to achieve job skills and social skills necessary to become employed as a forklift operator
- Integrate classroom and hands‑on experience enabling students to demonstrate competencies
- Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize student learning
- Provide instruction using handouts, texts, audiovisual, and project‑based learning
- Modify instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse students' needs
- Oversee day‑to‑day operation of the class
- Recruit and provide orientation for new students in the program
- Maintain class records; prepare and submit instructional records, reports, and grades established by institutional policy
- Follow all safety and security procedures and notify the campus leadership of deficiency
- Provide feedback to program supervisor regarding student progress and/or comprehension of course content in classroom or in theory classes
- Ensures confidentiality of all student records and student information
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge and skill in subject specialty
- Motivate and encourage students to successfully complete their program
- Promote community awareness of program opportunities
- Perform other tasks as assigned which support the mission and initiatives of the College
- Requires flexible hours; days, nights and possibly weekends
- Minimum 3 years Forklift driving experience
- Valid Forklift license
- Competency gained through work experience
- Five years of Forklift driving experience
- One year postsecondary teaching experience in subject matter

- Ability to demonstrate the use of technology in the classroom
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must work well with others in a team environment
- Should be familiar with and appreciate the mission of a community college
