Under the general guidance of the Program Coordinator, the Welding Instructor is responsible for supervising and training students in Welding courses. This position requires flexible working hours; day, evening and possibly weekends.

  • Teach assigned courses to meet program needs.
  • Integrate classroom and hands-on experience enabling students to demonstrate competencies.
  • Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize student learning.
  • Modify instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse students’ needs.
  • Oversee day-to-day operation of the class.
  • Maintain class records; prepare and submit instructional records, reports, and grades established by institutional policy.
  • Follow all safety and security procedures and notify campus leadership of deficiencies.
  • Provide feedback to program supervisor regarding student progress and/or comprehension of course content in classroom or theory classes.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all student records and information.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and skill in subject specialty.
  • Motivate and encourage students to successfully complete their program.
  • Promote community awareness of program opportunities.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned which support the mission and initiatives of the College.

Certified AWS and/or NCCER preferred.

Prior postsecondary related teaching experience of at least 1 year in subject matter is highly preferred.

Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with and maintain positive working relationships with students, peers, supervisors, and staff.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office products.
  • Ability to demonstrate the use of technology in the classroom.
