Overview

Electrical Controls Engineer II - PERM 9711 — Engineering — New Bern, NC

BSH Home Appliances Corporation seeks an Electrical Controls Engineer II at its facility located at 100 Bosch Blvd., New Bern, North Carolina 28562. Provide electrical engineering and controls engineering services supplied by the manufacturing engineering department to the assigned value stream or site.
Responsibilities include supporting production equipment, operations and process; designing, installing, maintaining and improving the efficiency of electrical hardware, production equipment, systems, and processes with emphasis on safety, quality, delivery and cost; and ensuring standardization of electric controls for process and factory equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Design, install, maintain and improve electrical hardware and production equipment, systems, and processes with focus on safety, quality, delivery and cost.
  • Ensure standardization of electric controls for process and factory equipment.
  • Develop and maintain equipment standards for procurement, manufacture and maintenance of production equipment (cost, availability, process safety, reliability, ease of use, reparability).
  • Plan and acquire equipment; work on electro-mechanical and electrical parts through planning, design review, acquisition and implementation of production equipment concept development and assessment, including examination, comparison and determination of components and technologies.
  • Incorporate optimization of existing automation systems and production equipment to increase process safety and machine availability or enable further developments.
  • Analyze existing machines, define improvement measures and coordinate implementation.
  • Provide expert advice and support to Electronic and Maintenance Technicians to return process equipment to production while ensuring high product quality.
  • Archive and maintain technical documentation with appropriate software; ensure facilities and electrical maintenance groups have updated documents and programs accessible.
  • Plan and implement modifications with fabrication and assembly equipment in coordination with concerned departments and contractors.
  • Prepare maintenance work to extend service life of equipment and devices.
  • Assist planning departments in improving maintainability of new machines.
  • Travel to equipment suppliers during pre-acceptance runoffs and participate in handover activities of equipment to the end-user department.
  • Study product requirements and how electrical design of machinery can help meet those requirements; implement control changes where needed.
  • Act as participant, facilitator or leader of cross-functional teams.
  • Lead as project manager for automation and connectivity of shop floor data (IIoT) acquisition; build the interface of machine and production areas into the MES and Enterprise System infrastructure.
  • Layout HMI panels with integrators to determine proper configuration for all machine functions and ensure the equipment interface is user-friendly.
  • Perform work under minimal supervision; handle moderately complex to complex issues and refer more complex issues to higher-level staff.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering or a related field.
  • Plus 3 years of experience as a Testing Systems Engineer, Automation Engineer, Instrumentation Engineer, Automation Controls Engineer, Maintenance Engineer or similar role in a discrete manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with: (1) Electrical and controls systems, circuits, components, and software (Siemens TIA Portal, SEW configuration, MOVITOOL, IFM, PNOZ); (2) Industrial robotic programming; (3) PLC programming (Siemens or Allen-Bradley); (4) Application programming (C++ or Visual Basic); (5) CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN); (6) Proper use of digital multimeters, machine vision systems (Keyence or Cognex), or high-potential testers.
  • 20% travel internationally and domestically.
  • Wage range: $103,230 to $139,008.
