Provide direct client care, psychiatric evaluation, medication management within an outpatient setting under physician supervision.
Essential Responsibilities- Perform psychiatric diagnostic evaluations to determine diagnoses, treatment strategies, and care coordination needs for clients with mental health, substance use, or other psychiatric and medical needs.
- Provide psychiatric and/or medical services within reasonable and expected medical standards; apply medical knowledge to diagnose, prevent, treat illnesses.
- Maintain accurate, legible medical records and perform timely clinical/billing documentation conforming to regulatory standards.
- Perform pharmacologic treatment strategies, order medications, monitor, evaluate progress on psychiatric and/or other medications.
- Order, obtain, assess appropriate laboratory tests and diagnostics; base clinical decisions on laboratory interpretation.
- Work as part of multidisciplinary team to provide clinical services and coordinate care to mental health patients.
- Ensure timely access to care, flexibility in scheduling; meet productivity standards.
- Under supervision of MD/DO, assume client care responsibilities inclusive of psychiatric evaluation, professional diagnoses, prescribing and/or administering treatment.
- Complete medication and health education including informed consent, benefits, risks, side effects, alternative treatments; health/wellness management; metabolic risk reduction strategies.
- Care coordination: professional timely communication/coordination with client/families/involved agencies/ PCP/ other specialty care providers to ensure timely and coordinated treatment planning and patient progress evaluation.
- Conduct Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation remapping procedures once trained and demonstrate competency.
- Remain in compliance with state laws/regulations for PA; meet supervised hour requirements, CME, and complete appropriate assessments in timely manner with supervising physician.
- Attend weekly mandatory supervisory meeting with physician or as deemed appropriate by supervising physician or Chief Medical Officer.
- Assist as required by supervisor with other duties as assigned.
- Graduation from an NCCPA‑approved physician assistant program.
- 1‑year clinical experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting preferred.
- Current full and unrestricted PA licensure in the state of practice and active state DEA license required.
- PA with Psych Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) preferred.
- BLS from American Heart Association required.
