Job SummaryManage all aspects of one or more projects valued up to $5M from project study phase through project execution, construction and commissioning to completion on a cement plant in the USA.
Job Responsibilities- Maintain a safe workplace and strive for zero occupational injuries, accidents and environmental incidences.
- Responsible for project budget and schedule – set deadlines, assign responsibilities, monitor execution, and summarize progress.
- Prepare requests for proposals, evaluate proposals, and assist procurement with negotiation and contract preparation.
- Monitor contractor and vendor progress and approve invoices for payment.
- Interface with and address ongoing design issues and requests for information (RFIs) within the company, review and approve vendor and engineering drawings as needed.
- Coordinate contractor activities with plant operations.
- Prepare and submit status reports for management, including budget and schedule updates.
- During commissioning, supervise and/or coordinate engineering and construction contractors and internal staff to stabilize normal operation.
- Conduct analyses to improve development, coordinate with other areas to identify and resolve problems in a team effort.
- Mechanical Engineering or BS Civil or other relevant degree.
- At least 10 years of project management experience, preferably in the cement industry.
- Strong safety focus.
- MSHA Certification required (or required within a reasonable period).
- Effective oral and written communication with employees and others.
- Maintain confidentiality in daily operations.
- Interface with all departmental needs and external agencies.
- Strong supervisory or management experience.
- Experience evaluating & managing project costs and developing budgets.
- Experience developing documents for proposals and evaluating responses.
- Experience selecting contractors and implementing contract agreements.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and contractors with budgetary oversight.
- Proficient in project management software.
- High-level computer proficiency:
Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project and AutoCAD.
- Occasional exposure to extreme heat, cold, noise, and outdoor work.
- Must wear protective equipment on site.
- Walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing to a significant degree.
- Heavy work-exertion up to 50 pounds of force occasionally or frequently.
- Regularly required to talk and hear, communicate with employees/visitors, and function safely around heavy equipment.
- Must be able to perform all job functions including pushing, turning, and/or pulling controls.
