Position SummaryUnder minimal supervision, provides nursing care for a group of patients assigned to the nurse based on matching the patients’ needs with the nurse’s competencies. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications- Minimum Education: Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
- Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree.
- Minimum Experience: None.
- Preferred Experience: Two years in acute care. Previous clinical nursing experience.
- Required Certifications/License: Possession of current Texas State License for Registered Nurse.
- Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.
- AHA ACLS must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role (LABOR & DELIVERY) – should be completed before end of orientation period.
- AHA NRP must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role (LABOR & DELIVERY or any nurse floated into L&D) – should be completed before end of orientation period.
- Fetal Monitoring – L&D and Antepartum:
Novice RNs required to complete GNOSIS introduction to Fetal Heart Monitoring within 30 days of hire or transfer, and AWHONN Intermediate Heart Monitoring within 8 months of L&D orientation. Experienced L&D RNs (>1 yr) must have AWHONN Advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring on hire or within first 90 days. - S.T.A.B.L.E. – Level 2 Nursery:
Must provide proof of prior completion or obtain within 6 months of hire or transfer into unit (renewal not required). - AHA PALS must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role (PEDIATRICS).
