Canyon Vet New Braunfels is looking for a Veterinary Assistant to join our team as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

About YouThe Veterinary Assistant supports the veterinary team in delivering high-quality patient care in a general practice setting. This role assists licensed technicians and veterinarians with daily clinical operations, patient care tasks, and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized hospital environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesInclude but are not limited to:
- Assist veterinary technicians and veterinarians with general patient care and handling
- Prepare and fill medications as directed by veterinarians or technicians
- Clean and sanitize exam rooms, treatment areas, kennels, and equipment
- Support technicians during appointments and procedures as needed
- Restrain animals safely and compassionately for examinations and treatments
- Stock supplies and ensure treatment and exam areas are well-organized
- Assist with laundry and proper disposal of medical waste
- Follow hospital protocols, safety guidelines, and infection control procedures
- Provide general support to the technician team to ensure smooth daily operations
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience in a veterinary, animal care, or medical support role preferred but not required
- Basic knowledge of animal handling and care preferred
- Ability to follow instructions, multitask, and work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety
- Compassionate, team-oriented attitude with a willingness to learn
Canyon Vet is a full-service small animal practice located in New Braunfels, Texas providing high quality, dedicated care for every patient. Our hospital has a collaborative team and is committed to a positive work environment. We pride ourselves on compassionate care and high standards of medical excellence.
We are open Monday-Friday 7:30am-6pm and Saturday 7:30am-12pm
