Job Summary
We are seeking a talented Bookkeeper to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with the accounting department to maintain accurate financial records and ensure the company's compliance with all legal requirements. Your responsibilities will include recording and verifying transactions, bringing the books to the trial balance stage, and completing tax forms. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and has a strong understanding of best practices in accounting.
We are a real estate investment, management, and maintenance company. Experience in this field is preferred. Our goal is to hire for the position of future financial controller.
Responsibilities
- Set up new accounts
- Prepare statements for tax returns
- File sales and use tax returns
- Handle corporate filings with the secretary of state
- Communicate with owners, attorneys, accountants, and government agencies
- Ensure compliance with the state's licensing division
- Manage demand letters, collections, evictions, foreclosures, and filings with general counsel attorneys
- Use App Folio property management software for account setups, reconciliations, and auditing
- Utilize Quick Books Online for invoicing, billing, and estimating
- Manage payroll with ADP for two different companies
- Oversee HR and benefits administration for employees
- Analyze budgets versus actuals and perform forecasting
- Attend meetings with the company, owners, and associations
- Manage insurance audits
- Handle Department of Motor Vehicle registrations
- Manage vendor relationships, including licenses, insurance, and W-9s
- Perform reconciliations and manage security deposit dispositions with statutory interest
- Set up folders in property portals for bill scanning
- Enter and verify financial data and transactions
- Prepare trial balances
- Analyze budgets and other financial information
- Process accounts payable and receivable
- Complete required tax forms
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field
- Previous experience as an accountant, bookkeeper, or similar role
- Knowledge of GAAP
- Proficiency in spreadsheets, Microsoft Excel, Quick Books, App Folio, Payroll, and basic accounting systems
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and communication skills
