The Hospital of Central Connecticut is an acute‑care community teaching hospital. Duties: The Lead Phlebotomist provides day‑to‑day direction to the Phlebotomy team in achieving optimum workflow while providing an exceptional experience. This individual supports the Supervisor by performing a combination of activities while ensuring all procedures and policies are adhered to. Performs phlebotomy duties in compliance with applicable legal requirements and established laboratory policies. Demonstrates H3W behaviors with a focus on exceptional patient experience and quality outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Significant processing experience required
  • Sunquest or Beaker experience required
  • Prior leadership experience required
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Successful completion of Phlebotomy program
  • 2 years phlebotomy experience
  • National certification (NCCT or ASCP) or equivalent
  • Knowledge of venipuncture techniques
  • Excellent customer service skills with a professional attitude
  • Good keyboarding skills with ability to learn various laboratory applications and HHC computer systems
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Ability to handle different patient populations including difficult patients
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to operate required lab equipment including pneumatic tube
