Registered Behavior Technician in New Britain, CT
Make an immediate impact working directly in autism program classrooms, supporting young learners (ages 5-6) with significant Autism Spectrum Disorder needs. This contract opportunity runs for one month, helping ensure continuity of student care while permanent staff are being onboarded.
As a valued professional onsite, you will collaborate closely with teachers and educational staff, offering consistent behavioral support and personal care. Your expertise, compassion, and ability to assist with all aspects of student needs including toileting and diaper changes will have a meaningful, positive effect every day.
Key
Qualifications:
- Active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certification OR current CT Paraprofessional certificate with autism program classroom experience
- Experience supporting students with moderate to severe ASD
- Confidence, patience, and comfort in working one-on-one or in small groups with young children (5-6 years old)
- Willingness and physical ability to assist with toileting and diaper changes as needed
- Professionalism, reliability, and a proactive approach to classroom challenges
Essential Responsibilities:
- Provide direct 1:1 or small-group behavioral interventions as outlined by classroom plans
- Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and other team members to implement individualized supports
- Monitor student progress and communicate observations to the team
- Assist in daily classroom routines, ensuring a safe, supportive, and respectful environment for every child
- Support students personal care needs with sensitivity and respect
