Position Summary

The Learning Management Systems (LMS) Administrator enhances the remote learning experience by expanding LMS features and supporting its functionality and integrations. The role works with Office of Teaching and Learning staff, Directors of Educational Technology, IT and other departments across the College to address technical issues, keep the LMS current, and advise leadership on best practices in online pedagogy.

Position Responsibilities
  • Advance the effectiveness of the CSCC Learning Management System (LMS), serving as functional lead and investigating technical or operational issues.
  • Assist faculty with course creation, management, and operation by completing LMS-related requests.
  • Coordinate with CSCU Senior Information Systems Development Manager and IT LMS administrator to maintain connectivity and integrations with third‑party systems (LTI, SIS, SSO, etc.).
  • Develop and deliver training in face‑to‑face, virtual, and e‑learning formats to faculty and staff.
  • Work with internal providers (IT, Records) and external vendors to prioritize and resolve support requests.
  • Serve as primary administrator for the LMS, maintaining non‑production environments and planning vendor‑led refreshes.
  • Conduct testing to verify integration of emerging technologies.
  • Communicate release notes and other updates to stakeholders.
  • Document processes and procedures to ensure security, functionality, and consistency of operation.
Administration Support
  • Assist the Associate Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs Operations and the Director of Academic Operations in managing assigned operational areas.
  • Participate in developing, implementing, and reviewing policies, standards, documentation, and processes for online courses.
  • Collaborate in planning, designing, and facilitating distance education activities and daily operations of CSCC’s online program.
Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in Educational Technology, Instructional Technology, or a related field, with four (4) years of related experience.

  • Experience as an administrator or super user on an LMS (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas, Brightspace).
  • Experience in Information Technology, Service Desk Support, or Systems Management.
  • Familiarity with training methodology.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One (1) or more years of LMS administration in a multi‑site community college or university.
  • Experience implementing continuous quality improvement and assessment processes.
  • Experience supporting outcomes assessment at course, program, or institutional level.
  • Experience managing or implementing complex projects and programs that support new technologies.
  • Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL).
Professional Requirements

Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis. CT State CC cannot sponsor work visas.

Salary & Benefits
