Position OverviewThe Draftsman / CAD Technician will be responsible for producing detailed shop drawings and CNC-ready files based on architectural drawings, specifications, and internal standards. You will collaborate closely with Project Managers, the Production Team, and the Installation Crew to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of our fabrication process.
Key Responsibilities- Review architectural plans and specifications to generate accurate and timely shop drawings.
- Create detailed cabinet and millwork drawings using AutoCAD or Cabinet Vision (or similar software).
- Prepare cut lists and CNC-ready files for shop fabrication.
- Maintain drafting standards and drawing organization in accordance with company templates.
- Coordinate with Project Managers to incorporate client changes and approvals.
- Resolve technical drawing issues with production and installation teams.
- Assist in engineering custom components or configurations as needed.
- Ensure all work complies with AWI standards and ADA guidelines where applicable.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Cabinet Vision, or similar drafting/CNC software.
- 5+ years experience in cabinetry, millwork, or architectural drafting.
- Strong understanding of cabinet construction methods and hardware.
- Ability to interpret and translate architectural and shop drawings.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
- Experience with CNC machine file preparation and nesting software.
- Familiarity with medical/dental/office cabinetry layouts.
- Knowledge of construction and building code requirements related to millwork.
