**** Job Description
** The Marketing Communications Specialist supports the planning and execution of communications, marketing, and business development initiatives. As part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team, the specialist will support writing and editing content, creating graphics and visual assets, and coordinating campaign efforts to engage internal and external audiences. The role requires excellent organization skills, creativity, and strong writing capabilities.
** Qualifications
* ** Experience with content development or social media. Bachelor’s degree in design, communications, or related field is preferred.
* Competency in Microsoft Office products and experience working with design apps or software, such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, or others.
* Excellent communication skills, with a specific ability to create engaging content across multiple platforms.
* Ability to manage multiple projects with competing demands, while maintaining a commitment to excellence.
** Physical Demands
*** Frequently walks in areas of the Hospital, sitting and standing at frequent intervals, bending and reaching to access files and written materials.
* Uses hands, eyes, ears, and fine motor skills continuously to write. Uses computer and telephone.
* Job requires sitting/working at a desk and those functions associated with administrative tasks (reaching, bending and stretching to access drawers, files, shelves). Occasional lifting of office supplies or promotional materials required (up to approximately 20 lbs).
* Occasional walking throughout hospital complex, traveling between hospital sites and community sites as needed and appropriate.
** Cognitive Demands
*** Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously that cut across department lines and involve multiple constituencies
* Uses independent judgment and problem-solving techniques daily in working with internal and external contacts
* Continuously communicates with others using effective listening, writing, presentation, and verbal skills.
* Ability to successfully initiate projects and activities independently under tight deadlines while managing multiple priorities.
** Work Demands
*** Works indoors in an office environment with moderate noise and frequent interruptions.
* Frequently works with and around other people.
* Travels in the community and in the region and occasionally long distances to talk with media or to attend professional conferences
* Adjusts works hours to accommodate work responsibilities such as special events, media and publications deadlines and workload as required.
** Essential Functions
*** Assists in writing and editing content for employee communications (intranet), as well as website pages, social media, patient stories, and press releases
* Creates basic graphics or visual assets using tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Cloud
* Supports regular social media posting and engagement
* Maintains content calendars and coordinates timelines and logistics for marketing projects and events
* Represents organization and supports organizational teams at conferences, events, and other virtual and in-person activities
* Distributes media releases and assists in coordination of media activities as assigned
* Supports internal activities to drive employee, donor, and patient engagement including Hartford Yard Goats, Travelers Championship, and other activities as assigned
* Provides business development support and performs other duties as required to meet the strategic goals of the organization and department
