American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Medical Rehabilitation Unit position requiring CT or compact RN licensure and experience with medically complex, long term acute care patients.

• Work in a Medical Rehabilitation Unit (MRU) and sister Complex Medical Unit (CMU) in a long term acute care setting
• Medically complex rehabilitation patients requiring cardiac monitoring
• Patient population includes LVAD, CVA, ABI, SCI, wounds, CAPD, and vent-dependent patients
• Patient ratios are 1:7 for day/evening shifts and 1:9 for nights
• Schedule options include 3x12-hour or 5x8-hour shifts, day shift 07:00 AM - 03:30 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Floats to MRU and CMU, with additional floating possible for 12-hour shift workers
• Travelers on 12-hour shifts float after 8 hours

• Active CT or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required, ACLS preferred
• 1-2 years of RN experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• Experience with respiratory or ventilated patients strongly preferred
• Willing to obtain flu vaccination or provide medical declination (personal or religious declinations not accepted)

• Responsibilities include IV starts, administering drips and blood, EKGs, medication titrations, glucose monitoring, wound vac changes, complex and simple wound dressings, trach care, suctioning, straight cath, foley care, port access, central line dressing, and wound measurements
• RNs are not responsible for managing ventilators, as this is handled by respiratory therapists
• Orientation occurs every Monday
• Local candidates accepted
• Local rate applies within 50 miles, radius rate also available
• First-time travelers may be considered
