American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Long Term Acute Care Respiratory Step Down Unit position requiring a CT or compact RN license and 1-2 years of experience.

• Work in a Respiratory Step Down Unit within a long term acute care hospital setting
• Respiratory-focused, vent-dependent patient population in a medical (non-traditional Med/Surg) environment
• Unit ratios are 1:9 for day/evening shifts and 1:12 for nights
• 38-bed Respiratory Step-Down Unit
• 8-hour evening shifts, 40 hours per week, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Float required to similar chronic care units including RCU, RCU2, SDU, and TRU, with travelers floating first
• May split a shift between two units, such as 4 hours on one unit and 8 hours on another
• Respiratory therapists manage ventilators, not nursing staff

• Active RN license, CT or compact, currently in hand
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification preferred
• 1-2 years of RN experience required
• Experience with respiratory or ventilator-dependent patients strongly preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• Skilled in IV starts, medication titration, blood administration, EKGs, glucose monitoring, and drip management
• Experience with wound vac changes, complex and simple wound dressings, and wound measurements
• Competency in trach care, suctioning, straight catheterization, foley care, port access, and central line dressing changes

• Responsible for direct patient care duties including IV therapy, medication administration, wound care, and trach/airway management
• Works alongside respiratory therapists who are responsible for ventilator management
• Local candidates accepted
• Eligible for local rate within a 50 mile radius
• Radius rate applies for eligible candidates outside the local radius
