Medical Secretary
Join to apply for the Medical Secretary role at Saint Peter’s Healthcare System.
We are looking for an experienced Medical Secretary to support clinical and administrative functions in our Pediatric Cardiology practice.
Responsibilities- Utilize the Athena electronic medical scheduling system to schedule all appointments for office visits, ensuring mandatory information is collected at the time of scheduling call.
- Answer and screen incoming calls, providing information based on knowledge of relevant policies and procedures, determining urgency, and routing calls to appropriate personnel.
- Act as the initial contact for the Clinical Practice and Department by greeting patients and families and directing them through the appropriate processes, making them feel comfortable.
- Assist with billing and financial screening activities per practice policies.
- Coordinate appropriate testing with the Hospital Pre Admission Testing Department and other facilities for upcoming scheduled surgical and diagnostic procedures.
- Provide courteous, efficient, and helpful telephone service.
- Maintain familiarity with practice’s computer systems and generate requested reports and schedules.
- Assist physicians in maintaining their calendars and complete assignments independently.
- Perform a variety of miscellaneous clerical tasks to support department activities.
- Minimum of two years office experience.
- Highly motivated, independent thinker, self‑starter, and enthusiastic team player.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple projects with strong follow‑up and communication.
- Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred.
- Attention to detail and computer accuracy in data entry and patient scheduling; competent with basic office machines.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Familiarity with clinical practice operations a plus.
- Proficient computer skills:
Word processing, office scheduling, Windows.
Salary Range: 20.13 – 32.19 USD. Competitive base rates based on experience, internal equity, and market data. Additional clinical certification pay and shift differentials may apply. Benefits include medical, dental, vision insurance; savings and welfare programs; 401(k) match; and more.
