Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Dance Accompanist for the Mason Gross School of the Arts - Dance Department.

The Dance Accompanist plays a vital role in supporting the department's instructional and performance activities by providing live musical accompaniment that enhances the learning environment and complements the artistic vision of faculty.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

* Delivers music and/or rhythmic accompaniment that aligns with and enriches the instructor's teaching methodologies, class objectives, and choreography.

* Adapts tempo, style, and dynamics in real time to support a wide range of dance techniques, including ballet, modern, jazz, Tap and contemporary forms.

* Collaborates closely with faculty, students, and guest artists to create an engaging and responsive classroom and rehearsal atmosphere.

* Assists in maintaining the artistic integrity and educational standards of the Dance Department.

FLSA Nonexempt Salary Details $35.00 - $40.00/hourly Offer Information

The final salary offer may be determined by several factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate's qualifications, experience, and expertise, and availability of department or grant funds to support the position. We also take into consideration market benchmarks, if and when appropriate, and internal equity to ensure fair compensation relative to the university's broader compensation structure. Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

* Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least two (2) years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Preferred Qualifications Equipment Utilized

* Piano or an array of percussion equipment.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

* For percussionist, must be able to set up, break down, and store equipment in accordance with the instrumental needs of the class.

* May have to reposition piano based on space needs.
