The Graduate School of Education (GSE), Rutgers University, invites applications for lecturers (formerly part‑time lecturers) in the department of Educational Theory, Policy, and Administration for the Spring 2026 semester (February 1, 2026 – June 30, 2026).
Position SummarySuccessful applicants will design and deliver undergraduate or graduate courses in social and philosophical foundations of education, educational policy, social studies education, and/or educational leadership. Courses may cover topics such as the history of education, philosophy of education, gender in education, race, ethnicity and inequality, urban education, sociology of education, public school finance, policy analysis, school leadership, and queer issues in schools.
Instruction will be offered in a range of modalities, including hybrid, online, synchronous, and asynchronous formats. Course appointments are in the New Brunswick area and may include hybrid/online formats.
Lecturers are expected to attend orientation, submit syllabus, respond to student emails, and submit grades as per contract.
Responsibilities- Design and deliver course content aligned with program objectives.
- Prepare syllabi and instructional materials in a timely manner.
- Provide regular feedback and support to students via email and other communication channels.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date grade records.
- Minimum:
Master’s degree required;
Doctorate preferred. - Preferred experience in P‑12 educational settings and higher‑education teaching.
- Experience with online and blended instruction.
- Strong communication, assessment, and organizational skills.
Salary:
Minimum $2,777 per credit. Final salary will be determined by qualifications, experience, and department funding.
