OverviewTRC Advanced Energy (TRC) is a nationally known energy efficiency consultancy. TRC collaborates with clients to develop and implement market transforming programs and initiatives that promote energy efficiency, renewable energy, and decarbonization in multiple market sectors across the US. These initiatives reduce energy costs, improve the health and safety conditions of buildings, while also helping the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

TRC is seeking a qualified Project Engineer III to support commercial and industrial (C&I) energy efficiency and demand management programs in our East Region. Responsibilities may include energy analysis, engineering reviews, research, technical writing, energy modeling, energy auditing, and project management for multiple C&I programs, projects and/or customers. Candidates must possess strong technical capabilities including knowledge of building systems, energy efficiency, demand management, and decarbonization.
The desired candidate will work collaboratively with the Advanced Energy team and clients to provide engineering support for market transforming programs that encourage energy efficiency and decarbonization.
The candidate will be presented with the challenge of a range of C&I projects with a variety of energy systems. There will be significant interface with clients that may require local travel. The position requires the ability to manage projects, flexibility, diversity of technical expertise, strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, and excellent customer care skills. The candidate will rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and perform a variety of complicated tasks.
Responsibilities- Developing and reviewing calculations and assumptions used to estimate energy savings.
- Developing and reviewing technical reports that summarize project scope, calculation methodologies, key assumptions, and recommendations.
- Performing facility utility analysis, energy balancing, and energy benchmarking.
- Conducting facility ASHRAE Level II and III audits for a variety of building sectors: universities, schools, hospitals, multifamily, and municipalities.
- Delivering high quality reports and calculations requiring minimal internal review efforts.
- Managing multiple project schedules, budgets, and deliverables simultaneously while meeting deadlines and client expectations.
- Providing technical assistance to customers, contractors, and other stakeholders including support with energy savings calculations and meeting program requirements.
- Deploying metering equipment and analyzing large data sets to validate baseline and replacement equipment operation.
- Conducting meetings and presentations and provide answers to technical and program related questions.
