Pay Range: $16.00 – $16.00 per hour

Location: One Robert Wood Johnson Place, New Brunswick, NJ 08901

Cleans all patient and non-patient areas of the hospital, and other areas as directed.

• Dust, damp mop, spot clean and disinfect fixtures, furnishings in both patient and non-patient areas
• Vacuum and spot clean mats and carpets, as assigned
• Empty, clean and re‑line waste baskets. Transport regular and contaminated waste/linen to the utility room or proper areas
• Wash and disinfect bed/crib at discharge and prepare bed for new occupant
• Follow isolation cleaning procedures when cleaning isolation rooms to prevent the spread of pathogens
• Clean and disinfect daily bathroom fixtures, mirrors, windows, doors, walls (as far as can be reached) and replenish bathroom supplies if necessary
• Notify supervisor when supplies in the Environmental Services storage room are low. Report work orders when repairs are needed in assigned areas
• Maintain tools and equipment in good condition, is responsible for economical use of supplies
• Mechanical aptitude to operate machines and equipment may include hard floor surface maintenance, e.g.: strip, refinish, burnishing and shampooing carpets
• Deliver clean linen throughout the facility
• Enhance professional growth and development by attending in‑services, required meetings and other educational programs

• Rotating weekends and holidays required
• Shift working:
  Evening 2:30pm – 11:00pm

• Know how to use common housecleaning implements such as mops, floor waxes, and scouring pads to keep areas clean and well serviced
• Ability to follow oral or written instructions
• Work with constant concern for the safety of all persons (Patient, Visitor Etc.)
• Interacts in a positive manner with coworkers in all departments to accomplish the goals and objectives of the hospital for effective patient care
• Must be able to read, write and speak English
• Perform other duties as may be assigned

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Must include bending, stooping and stretching
