Job Title:

Staff Nurse – Mental Health PT (New Jersey State Prison, Trenton, NJ)
Position Type:
Part Time (20 hours per week, evening shift). The role is full‑onsite; requires nurses to work shifts on the prison site.

Duties include:

• Provide direct and indirect nursing care to inmate‑patients, addressing physiological, psychosocial, and emotional needs for adults (18–64) and geriatrics (65+).
• Communicate respectfully and courteously with patients, colleagues, and security officers.
• Apply current nursing knowledge to maintain a safe environment for patient care.

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Minimum of one (1) year of psychiatric nursing experience.
• License to practice in the State of New Jersey.
• CPR certification required.
• Valid driver’s license with own vehicle or alternate transportation ready for site-to-site travel.
• Preferred:
  Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) or equivalent.

First responders must maintain the capacity to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes, lift and carry up to 45 lb emergency treatment bags, and assist in moving or rotating patients weighing up to 50 lb.

Must be approved by the Department of Corrections and adhere to all DOC requirements.
