Job Opportunity – Pediatric ICU / Step Down Registered Nurse – New Jersey

Start Date: February 9, 2026
Location: New Brunswick, New Jersey
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour shifts, every other weekend and holiday required; must be available to work 2 of 3 holidays

Highlights:

• Critical care experience in a fast-paced PICU and pediatric step-down environment
• Patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:3 based on acuity and unit assignment
• Float opportunities across pediatric units including adolescents, NICU, PHOC, and general pediatrics
• Epic EMR system utilized for documentation and charting
• Diverse patient mix with complex case opportunities including cardiac, respiratory, neuro, and trauma patients
• First-time travelers welcomed; local candidates accepted

Requirements:

• Active New Jersey or Compact state RN license required at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of pediatric critical care or step-down nursing experience
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS required at time of submission
• NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred
• Proficiency in advanced skills including CVP monitoring, CVVH/CRRT, hemodynamic monitoring, EKG interpretation and management, insulin pump administration, NG tube placement and management, IV access (ports, arterial lines, central lines, PICCs), procedural sedation, IV vasopressor administration, EVD management, VP shunt care, ICP monitoring, high-flow nasal cannula, endotracheal tube management, ventilator and trach care, renal failure management, peritoneal dialysis, wound care, and trauma care
• ECMO experience preferred but not required
• Ability to float within skillset to all pediatric units as needed based on census and staffing
• References and background check clearance required
