Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) required

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to neonates ranging from 29–34 weeks and greater than 34 weeks gestation in a 21-bed NICU and 16-bed Special Care Nursery (SCN), maintaining ratios of 1:2 in NICU and 1:3–4 in SCN
  • Perform general NICU care including developmental care, patient/family teaching, phlebotomy, thermoregulation, blood glucose monitoring, phototherapy, isolation/PPE protocols, and sepsis workups
  • Manage lines and administer blood products, including A-line management, central/implanted line care, IV starts and maintenance, and UAC/UVC
  • Administer and calculate neonatal medications including anti-seizure agents, antibiotics/antivirals, IV vasopressors, steroids, surfactants, and insulin
  • Provide respiratory support including Bubble CPAP, HFNC, Vapotherm, oxygen delivery systems, ETT/NT suctioning, chest tube management, and ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BiPAP/PEEP)
  • Float within skillset as needed to Newborn, Pediatrics, and PICU for appropriate assignments; clinicians will not attend high-risk deliveries
Required Qualifications
  • Active New Jersey RN license or Compact license required at time of submission
  • Required

    Certifications:

    BLS and NRP
  • Minimum 2 years of current Level III NICU experience (facility is Level IV but accepts Level III experience)
  • Proficiency in EPIC electronic health records required
  • Ability to work or provide on-call coverage for 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's) as needed based on unit requirements
  • Locals are welcome and accepted
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • PALS certification preferred
  • Charge nurse experience
  • Experience with jet ventilators, oscillators, ECMO, Criti Cool body cooling, and neonates received via transport
