Nursing & Nurse Support Staff - VA Healthcare System

Job Description

We are looking for compassionate healthcare professionals to support the VA New Jersey Healthcare System (VANJHCS) and provide quality care to the Veterans who have served our country. Opportunities are available within Patient Care Service (PCS) for temporary assignments in Community Living Center (CLC) and Medical-Surgical units.

Work Location: Assignments may be available in East Orange, Lyons, Hackensack, Jersey City, Morristown, Paterson, Piscataway, Hamilton, Toms River, Tinton Falls, and surrounding areas, depending on staffing needs.

Current Staffing Needs

• Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) – Community Living Center
• Nursing Assistants (NAs) – Community Living Center
• Registered Nurses (RNs) – Medical-Surgical

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality care to Veterans.
• Monitor patient conditions and report changes promptly.
• Assist with daily living activities and patient support, as appropriate to the role.
• Administer medications and treatments within the scope of practice.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams and maintain accurate documentation.
• Follow patient safety, infection control, HIPAA, and facility policies.

Qualifications

• Current New Jersey RN or LPN license, as applicable, or another license accepted under applicable New Jersey requirements.
• Relevant nursing assistant training, certification, and/or experience for NA positions.
• Accredited nursing education, as applicable to the role.
• Current BLS certification, as required.
• Relevant clinical experience preferred or required based on the position.
• Ability to complete required credentialing, background screening, and facility onboarding.
