Summary:
The Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey is seeking a post-doctoral associate to join the laboratory of Dr Jun Wang within the Department of Medicinal Chemistry on or about November 3, 2025. The successful candidates will participate in NIH-funded research projects in designing and developing small molecule antivirals targeting emerging and re-emerging viruses.

QualificationsMinimum
Education and Experience:
A Ph.D. in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry or a similar science field is required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Design retro-synthesis routes for screening hits and perform structure-activity relationship studies
- Optimize the in vitro and in vivo pharmacokinetic properties of lead compounds
- Interpret structure activity relationship and structure property relationship results and design corresponding optimization strategies
- Participate in and present results and literature in group meetings and department seminars
- Write manuscripts for publication and present results in conferences (Excellent verbal and writing skills are a plus)
- Conduct literature search skills, and have the ability to design and improve synthetic routes to support SAR studies and deliver compounds in large scale in a timely manner
- Perform molecular modeling including docking is a plus
Candidates must have the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a diverse group and be willing to learn techniques and methodologies. Candidates must be highly motivated, creative and able to maintain excellent documentation of their work.
