Overview
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Laboratory/Technical Assistant for the Department of Cell Biology and Neuroscience within the School of Arts and Sciences. Our mission is to unravel the complexities of blood-brain barrier (BBB) regulation across development, normal physiology, and disease states. We are a dynamic and innovative new research group leveraging methodologies such as functional tracer leakage assays, live confocal microscopy, molecular and genetic tool development, electron microscopy, and targeted small-molecule screens.
We are pursuing several projects related to astrocyte function, neural crest lineage effects on BBB characteristics, and discovery of small molecules to modulate BBB permeability. This position offers an opportunity to join a new lab with strong technical and conceptual training, mentorship, and career development, and is suitable for candidates seeking additional training in experimental neuroscience prior to applying to graduate school.

- Assists with experiments by performing molecular biology, microinjections, microscopy imaging, in situ hybridization, immunohistochemistry, and data analysis.
- Maintains fish colony by crossing and genotyping transgenic and mutant lines.
- Orders supplies, stock solution, and overall lab upkeep.
Minimum Education and Experience
:
Bachelor's degree in a scientific/technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant laboratory technician, research study experience carrying out research protocols and tests or other technical work.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
:
