Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS) is New Jersey’s academic health center that integrates education, clinical care, and research to improve human health. Rutgers seeks a Postdoctoral Associate for the Child Health Institute at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the associate will design, perform, and analyze experiments focused on the development and function of novel innate immune cells in lung and brain tissues, and will work on how interactions between immune and non‑immune cells influence airway and brain disorders.
The associate will contribute to lab meetings, seminars, publications, grant development, and apply for personal funding.
- Design, perform, and analyze experiments using flow cytometry, animal models of airway and brain disorders, single‑cell RNA‐seq, multiplex cytokine assays, and immunofluorescence imaging.
- Assist in establishing performance standards, selecting research methodologies and instrumentation, and coordinating experimental approaches to support CHI research.
- Keep up to date on relevant literature and assist the PI in preparing manuscripts and grant applications.
- Instruct and train undergraduate and graduate students in laboratory techniques and procedures.
- Maintain clear, detailed records of procedures and experiments; manage data in shared, accessible locations; and communicate and present data to the PI and lab members in a timely manner.
- PhD degree in a relevant field; ABD (all but degree) status also considered.
- Published scientific articles.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
- Computer literacy with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
- Highly motivated, self‑driven, creative, and interactive.
Based on experience; minimum base salary $63,968. Mid‑range salary $90,000 and maximum salary $200,000.

Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week, fully on‑site.
Physical Demands- Work in a laboratory environment; moderate noise and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
- Perform laboratory research and lift laboratory items or boxes as required.
- Walking, standing, and sitting required.
- Must pass employee health clearance, TB test, and required safety training; follow all laboratory safety precautions.
