Overview
The School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, located on the George H. Cook Campus, is one of the largest schools of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. We pursue excellence in research, teaching, and outreach across the biological spectrum from molecules to ecosystems, emphasizing both fundamental sciences and the social and human dimensions. The school offers 21 undergraduate majors including plant and animal sciences, microbiology, biotechnology, agriculture and food systems, landscape architecture, food and nutritional sciences, ecology and evolution, marine science and oceanography, environmental sciences and meteorology, human ecology, entomology, and environmental economics.

Job SummaryRutgers, The nuestra Universidad of New Jersey seeks a Laboratory/Technical Assistant for the Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Natural Resources. The role will serve as a technical assistant for ongoing environmental DNA (eDNA) projects in the Lockwood Lab, conducting field and laboratory activities such as collecting eDNA samples, preparing equipment for field sampling, performing DNA extractions, benchtop experiments, sample analysis, and genetic sequence alignment.
The assistant will collaborate with faculty, staff, and graduate students to generate reports, maps, and other technical documents.

Salary: $22–$25 per hour, determined by experience, qualifications, and available funds.

Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in ecology, natural resources management, wildlife biology, or a related scientific/technical discipline, or equivalent education and laboratory experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Field experience, especially with eDNA sample collection in aquatic or terrestrial settings, or experience in a genetics or molecular ecology laboratory.
- Rutgers driver safety certificate and lab safety training.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, late evenings, and weekends as needed.
- Clean driving record required.
