These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations.

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Electrician/ Maintenance Mechanic R-18 for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). The position works independently in a “zone” reporting directly to a second level supervisor. Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- May guide and instruct other staff in the performance of a wide range of electrical duties required for all university facilities.
- Responsible for performing a wide range of electrical tasks, including estimation, procuring appropriate materials and repairing and installing electrical circuits, wiring, fixtures and controls. Such duties may be based on work orders which provide little or no instruction or assistance.
- May guide and instruct a group of craft trainees in the performance of a wide range of electrical duties required for all facilities.
- May be assigned to perform general duties in other trade areas.

QualificationsMinimum Education and Experience
- High school/vocational school education or equivalent.
- Must be a qualified journeyman electrician registered with the State of New Jersey or have completed an apprenticeship training program approved by the US Department of Labor that deals specifically with electrical work and is a minimum duration of three years.
- Must maintain journeyman certification while in job title.
- A valid driver’s license with two years driving experience is necessary.
- Will be required to successfully complete the Rutgers Defensive Driving Course.
