LOCATION: New Castle, DE 19720
OVERVIEW:Founded in 2006, Charter School of New Castle is split between two buildings, a K‑4 Elementary School with about 500 students and a 5‑8 Middle School on Lukens Drive in New Castle with about 300 students. The school is family‑focused and prides itself on staff collaboration and community engagement. It provides a well‑rounded educational experience that is intellectually stimulating and builds a foundation for success.
PositionGoal:
Teachers play an essential role in the growth and development of each student. They plan, instruct, assess, lead, mentor, and guide students to academic success, overcoming all hurdles and obstacles. Teachers are responsible for designing, developing, and implementing academic lessons and, working with other teachers and staff, for analyzing, assessing, and improving the educational experience.
Minimum Requirements- Education:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four‑year institution. Eligible for State of Delaware certification as a teacher in grade or content area. - Experience:
at least one year of teaching experience (two years preferred); an outstanding record of elevating student achievement in an urban classroom with a strong understanding of pedagogy that drives results. - Satisfactory criminal, child abuse, and FBI clearances.
- Hold high expectations for each student.
- Possess strong knowledge of content area.
- Exhibit positive rapport with students.
- Create and foster a positive learning environment.
- Establish and maintain strong communication lines with all parents.
- Attend weekly department meetings.
- Perform clerical duties as required relating to textbooks, instructional supplies, student reports and records, attendance, etc.
- Driven to improve the minds and lives of students from underserved communities.
- Dedicated to doing whatever it takes to help all students achieve academic success.
- Passionate about academic learning and insistent on academic excellence and rigor at all times.
- Self‑aware and treats all members of the school community with respect.
- Reflectively appraises strengths and weaknesses.
- Works urgently and can juggle multiple tasks and initiatives concurrently.
- Detail‑oriented, self‑directed, and capable of working independently and with a team.

Length of Work Year: 10 months. Occasional evening, weekend, and travel commitments will also be required.
Salary and BenefitsSalary is based on a scale aligned with qualifications and experience. Performance bonuses based on exemplary student achievement are available. The state benefits package includes medical, dental, flexible spending, and pension plans.
