Overview
Summary of Position:
The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer, working under the direction of the Senior Supplier Quality Manager and collaborating daily with the site Quality Manager, will drive our supplier quality program efforts. This role requires independence to implement effective processes within TA Instruments, resolve supplier quality issues promptly, and enhance customer satisfaction.
Description:
This hands-on position in a fast-paced environment involves interaction with external suppliers and internal teams (Engineering, Procurement, Site Quality, Manufacturing, and sister sites) to address supplier quality issues.
Responsibilities include analyzing current site processes, assessing needs based on risk and value, and improving supplier quality processes. The role also involves measuring supplier performance, implementing corrective actions, drafting quality agreements with critical suppliers, and conducting supplier quality audits to ensure compliance with TA Instruments’ standards. Supplier Quality Engineers serve as the liaison for quality issues among production, RDE, sustaining, test engineering departments, and suppliers.
Responsibilities:
- Implement and improve supplier quality management tools.
- Lead supplier investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence, ensuring effectiveness.
- Execute the Supplier Product Qualification Process as needed.
- Ensure suppliers meet timelines and requirements to avoid impacting production schedules and business needs.
- Conduct supplier CAPA investigations.
- Assess and improve part acceptance activities.
- Review inspection, testing, and evaluation methods for supplier-provided materials.
- Confirm that inspection criteria are appropriate for acceptance activities.
- Communicate effectively within project teams and senior leadership through reports and quality metrics.
- Perform supplier audits to evaluate process control effectiveness and system compliance.
- Assist in supplier qualification/disqualification in coordination with Procurement, initiating improvement plans when necessary.
- Manage the PCN (Supplier Change Notification) process.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical), Business, Mathematics, Science, or a related technical field. Relevant experience is required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years in Supplier Quality or related fields.
