Range Assistant II – Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control
The Division of Fish & Wildlife conserves and manages Delaware’s fish and wildlife and their habitats, and provides fishing, hunting, wildlife viewing and boating access on nearly 65,000 acres of public land.
These positions will be responsible for assisting with the day‑to‑day operation and maintenance of the Ommelanden Hunter Education Training center and public shooting range. Primary job duties include operating, loading, and maintaining trap and skeet shooting machines, ensuring range safety policies and procedures, and general grounds maintenance and facility cleaning and upkeep.
Essential Functions- Responsible for firearms use, care and safety.
- Ensures the safety of range participants utilizing the rifle and pistol range.
- Operates and maintains trap and skeet machines.
- Must be able to demonstrate responsibility, dependability, and good communication skills.
- Assists in general grounds maintenance including trash removal, grass cutting, and minor building repairs such as painting.
- Other duties as assigned.
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Knowledge of firearms use, care and safety.
- Knowledge of general grounds maintenance functions and equipment.
- Knowledge of basic maintenance repairs.
- Possession of a valid driver's license (not suspended, revoked, cancelled or disqualified from driving).
