As a self-directed employee, perform assigned operating, regulating and adjusting duties, as well as maintenance, electrical, and instrument and controls work on Simple Cycle electric generating units, auxiliaries and miscellaneous station equipment, to perform assigned switching operations on station or substation equipment. Complete all required training. Oversee and direct the activities of other employees, train and instruct assigned employees, and perform other related work.

• Check with the technician being relieved for special orders and for station and area operating conditions, review logs and make a visual inspection of duty area equipment. Perform the necessary maintenance duties related to mechanical, electrical, and instrument and controls work on Simple Cycle electric generating units, auxiliaries and miscellaneous station equipment. Perform buildings and grounds work, when necessary. Oversee and direct the activities of other employees, to train and instruct assigned employees, and to perform other related work.
• Perform the more highly skilled and more difficult work in the inspection, repair, maintenance and alignment of all types of mechanical equipment including such work as repairing and aligning bearings of rotating equipment, the complete dismantling, repair, alignment and reassembling of prime movers, boilers and high pressure pumps, and all associated equipment, including the associated rigging, piping, blacksmithing, bench and shop work.
• Troubleshoot, rebuild and perform highly skilled maintenance, service and installation work on air circuit breakers, motor starters and compensators by adjusting, lubricating, repairing and renewing parts thereof and by removing and installing interchangeable assemblies.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, test, adjust, repair and calibrate instruments and analyzers, control systems, and programmable logic controllers used in the station which involve special electronics ability of a highly skilled nature.
• Check and monitor the central control room continually during shift for proper and economical operation of equipment in accordance with prescribed standards, react to abnormal conditions and take the appropriate corrective measures within their control for priority maintenance required on equipment.
• Troubleshoot, check, calibrate and adjust, monitor and maintain CEMS and control systems during shift for proper operation of equipment in accordance with prescribed standards react to abnormal conditions and take the appropriate corrective measures.
• Perform in connection with assigned tasks, the necessary operating, regulating, adjusting, preventative and corrective maintenance to maintain proper output of combustion turbines, proper control of water flows, pressures, temperatures, and fuel consumption, including the operation or check of operation of feed water pumps, fans, ignition systems, and other related auxiliary and accessory equipment to insure maximum efficiency and correct output of the units.
• Troubleshoot and repair all electrical mechanical, instrument, control, and operational problems to resolution or to the point of recommendation for support assistance as needed.
• Perform in connection with assigned tasks the necessary operating, regulating and adjusting to maintain proper operation of combustion turbines and their related auxiliary and accessory equipment, including proper control of temperatures, pressures, lubrication, gland seals, cooling water, service water, heaters and hydrogen equipment.
