Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for residential and commercial projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
- Solicit and evaluate (level) bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive and accurate pricing. Meet with subs on site, as needed, to qualify and coordinate their bids.
- Review and interpret plans, specifications, and scopes of work to confirm completeness and identify potential gaps or conflicts. Draft RFI's as needed and communicate with design teams.
- Work closely with project managers and ownership to develop preliminary budgets, cost breakdowns, and value-engineering options.
- Support the contract negotiation and buyout process, including preparation of subcontractor scopes and purchase orders.
- Maintain and update historical cost data and unit pricing databases for future reference.
- Assist with proposal development, including bid forms, pricing summaries, and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with operations and field teams to ensure a seamless project handoff after award.
- Stay current with market trends, labor rates, and material pricing to maintain competitive estimating accuracy.
- 3-5+ years of experience in estimating, preconstruction, or cost management within the construction industry. US experience required.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building systems.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with estimating or takeoff software (e.g., Bluebeam, Plan Swift, Pro Est, or similar).
- Must have a car or vehicle.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
- Experience with project management platforms such as , Procore, or Buildertrend.
- Experience in industrial, manufacturing, and commercial projects.
- Familiarity with NY/NJ construction market pricing and subcontractor networks.
- Valid driver's license
