Job Description & How to Apply Below
OPERATIONS DIRECTOR | EXECUTION & INDIA SUBSIDIARY HEAD
Industry: Electronics Manufacturing
Reports to:
GM of overseas regions based at Group Headquarters (China)
About the Role
We are hiring on behalf of a leading Chinese-invested electronics manufacturer with an established operating subsidiary in India, seeking an Operation Director to lead the entity through a planned leadership transition.
This is a pure execution role , reporting into a China-based decision-maker; it is NOT a P&L-owning or manufacture operations position. Strategic and business decisions are made at the company's global headquarters in China. The Operation Director's mandate is to represent the India entity locally, manage internal coordination , and, most critically, own the external-facing relationships that keep the subsidiary running smoothly on the ground.
The right candidate is someone energized by being the trusted external face and internal coordinator for HQ , rather than someone seeking full autonomous authority over the business.
External Focus (~70%):
Government, Banking & Risk Management
Serve as the company's primary external representative with government agencies, local policy departments, banks, and credit/insurance institutions.
Build and maintain substantive relationships with regulatory and policy bodies, able to interpret policy shifts and provide early risk warnings, not just hold a titular relationship.
Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to policy changes, tax compliance, and local regulatory requirements; design contingency/emergency response plans.
Source and develop local resources (e.g., EMS partners, supplier relationships) that support the growth of the India platform.
Handle ad hoc crisis/emergency situations requiring external coordination or intervention.
Collect local industry trends, competitor dynamics, and customer demand feedback; propose actionable market adjustment strategies to headquarters.
Internal Focus (~30%):
Cross-Functional Coordination & Reporting
Act as the internal coordination point across departments (HR, Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing); the majority of these functions are directly managed by headquarters, and this role's job is to surface issues, flag risks, and keep information flowing, not to make departmental decisions.
Establish standardized local operating procedures and optimize cross-department workflows to improve overall efficiency.
Compile regular (weekly/monthly/quarterly) operations reports and track core KPIs; submit analysis and improvement recommendations to headquarters.
Oversee daily local office administration and serve as the core liaison between the India entity and China headquarters, syncing on business progress and coordinating resource support.
Coordinate with the manufacturing team as needed, without taking on direct production/plant management responsibility.
Ideal Candidate
Bachelor's degree or above, with 25+ years of relevant work experience.
Background in Set-Top Box, Telecom , or Consumer Electronics/Home Appliance industries. (TOP Priority)
Experience managing external government, regulatory, or banking relationships on behalf of a company (not only from within government/public sector).
Experience worked at a Chinese-invested company , or a track record of deep, sustained interaction with Chinese stakeholders. (preferred!)
Comfortable operating without full decision-making authority, with strong cross-cultural communication skills.
