Role Purpose
The Manager/ Senior Manager, Economic Research will play a pivotal role in driving high-quality economic research and analysis to support policy advocacy, thought leadership, and strategic initiatives. The incumbent will undertake macroeconomic research, prepare analytical reports and presentations, develop forecasting models, and provide insightful inputs to senior leadership and office bearers on emerging economic trends and issues.
Key Responsibilities
1. Economic Research and Analysis
Conduct in-depth research on macroeconomic and sectoral themes of national and global relevance
Track key economic indicators, policy developments, and emerging trends affecting industry and business
Develop thematic research papers, policy briefs, and analytical reports on topical issues
Provide evidence-based insights to support policy recommendations and advocacy initiatives.
2. Preparation of Reports and Presentations
Prepare high-quality reports, presentations, dashboards, and briefing notes for senior leadership and stakeholders
Translate complex economic developments into concise and actionable insights
Develop content for conferences, seminars, publications, and industry interactions
3. Policy Support and Stakeholder Communication
Draft talking points, speeches, reference notes, and background papers for office bearers and senior management
Support interactions with government agencies, industry bodies, think tanks, and academic institutions
Respond to research queries and provide analytical inputs on key economic issues
4. Forecasting and Economic Modelling
Build and maintain macroeconomic forecasting models
Conduct econometric analysis and scenario modelling using statistical tools
Develop projections and economic outlook reports to support strategic planning
Execute sponsored research projects and ensure timely delivery of assignments
5. Thought Leadership and Knowledge Creation
Produce cutting-edge research publications and opinion pieces
Represent the organization at industry forums, conferences, and stakeholder meetings
Collaborate with external experts, research institutions, and consulting firms to strengthen the research ecosystem
Contribute to enhancing the organization’s reputation as a leading source of economic thought leadership
6. Project Management
Manage multiple research assignments simultaneously while ensuring quality and timeliness
Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders for data collection and project execution
Monitor project milestones and deliverables
Educational Qualifications
Master's Degree in Economics, Applied Economics, Econometrics, Public Policy, Statistics, or related disciplines
Ph.D. in Economics or a related field would be preferred
Experience
8–12 years of relevant experience in economic research, policy analysis, consulting, think tanks, industry associations, academia, multilateral organizations, or research institutions
Experience in macroeconomic analysis, forecasting, and policy research is essential
Exposure to industry bodies, government institutions, or consulting organizations would be an advantage
