2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

The Centre for Social and Economic Progress (CSEP)  conducts independent, in-depth, and policy-relevant research, and provides evidence-based recommendations to the challenges facing India and the world. It draws on the expertise of its researchers, extensive interactions with policymakers as well as convening power to enhance the impact of research.

CSEP  researchers work across the domains of Economic Growth and Development including Urbanization;
Energy, Natural Resources, Climate Change and Sustainability; and Foreign Policy and Security. All  CSEP  research and policy recommendations are freely available to the public.

CSEP  is based in New Delhi and registered as a company limited by shares and not for profit, under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013 (earlier Section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956).

The Fellow post is housed within CSEP's Growth, Finance and Development vertical  and will focus on macroeconomic issues of relevance in a fast-changing world.

JOB DESCRIPTION / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Role Overview

CSEP  is seeking to recruit a highly qualified and motivated  Fellow – Macroeconomic Issues . The post-holder must be well-versed in global and domestic macroeconomic and policy developments, and have the ability to frame and conduct research on topics of relevance in a fast-changing world.

CSEP  provides unique opportunities to work with policymakers, senior and distinguished Fellows at  CSEP  and researchers globally.  CSEP  works with in-house, national and global experts, and regularly interacts with stakeholders including industry and policymakers.

Reporting to the leadership/ Lead of the Growth, Finance and Development vertical, the Fellow will be required to conceptualise the long-term research agenda, conduct independent research, and build the requisite team. Publication of the research work is expected and encouraged.

Key Responsibilities

The Fellow will be expected to:
(1) Conduct in-depth research on various topics, including but not limited to macroeconomic topics such as economic growth, inflation, industry, agriculture, external sector, monetary and fiscal issues; climate finance; climate mitigation and adaptation; and reforms of international financial institutions.
(2) Publish research output regularly and inform the policy debate with good-quality data and analysis.
(3) Collect and analyse economic data using appropriate methodologies and statistical tools to derive meaningful insights.
(4) Develop and implement research methodologies and frameworks to address research objectives and produce insightful reports.
(5) Collaborate with team members and contribute to the design and execution of research projects.
(6) Stay updated with the latest developments in the field of economics and climate change, and participate in discussions within and outside  CSEP .
(7) Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and research findings to internal experts and external audiences.
(8) Contribute to the development of grant proposals, research papers, and publications.
(9) Provide guidance and mentorship to junior researchers and interns, as required.
