Position: Summer Checker for Public Works
Join the Nova Scotia Department of Public Works as a Summer Checker in McLellan's Brook. Ensure accurate material distribution and monitoring for ongoing highway construction projects.

This role lasts 23 weeks, working under supervision to oversee construction material handling at various sites. The Checker will verify delivery, measure materials, and maintain necessary documentation, ensuring compliance with project and safety standards. Proficiency in safety regulations and road weight designations is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee delivery and placement of construction materials

• Verify and record weights and measurements accurately

• Process weigh tickets and maintain daily logs

• Report quality concerns and unsafe work conditions

• Assist engineering tasks and clear surveying areas

Requirements:

• Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent experience

• Knowledge of OH&S regulations and safety management

• Skills in reading technical documents and plans

• Strong mathematical aptitude and attention to detail

• Must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license
