About the OpportunityReporting to the Chief Power Engineer & Assistant Manager on a 24‑hour rotating shift basis, the 3rd Class Power Engineer troubleshoots, maintains, repairs, and monitors all steam plant equipment and supports facility general maintenance as regulations permit. This position is responsible for maintenance and repair work on equipment as directed by the supervisor which can include the boiler plant, chiller plant, water treatment plant and the facility as regulations permit.
The operator oversees all energy production during working hours and is responsible for maintaining constant production from the plant to the entire facility, following the Nova Scotia Boiler & Pressure Equipment Regulations. In special circumstances where approved, this position may be required to temporarily perform duties of a position with a higher‑class or lower‑class Power Engineer license to ensure coverage.
Travel within the zone or other zones as needed. Other duties as required.
- Third Class Power Engineer Certification
- In‑depth knowledge of building mechanical systems, including medical gas/vacuum systems
- Previous building maintenance experience
- Knowledge of labor and safety codes
- Must be able to work independently
- Travel to other sites may be required
- Casual relief, no guaranteed hours
$33.05 – $33.60 hourly
